Albuquerque, NM March 7, 2008 - Despite narrowly missing best of show honors, Thielen Designs instead took home 4 golds and 2 silvers at this year's SouthWestminster Ad Show, more commonly known as the New Mexico Addy awards. Work for local clients Punk Rock Pizza (created in collaboration with Minneapolis-based freelance Copywriter Colin Corcoran), plumber Mike Harrington and Militnt Publishing, were all recognized in part because of their atypical communications strategies: honesty. "These are the kind of clients who aren't afraid to say who they really are or feel the need to apologize for it," said Creative Director Tony Thielen. "It leads to better work and ultimately, better results."

The win was an important one, demonstrating how smaller shops in the now thriving Albuquerque-area market are producing quality ideas for less that hold their own against larger and more-established firms such as McKee Wallwork Cleveland, 3 Advertising, Rick Johnson & Company, Vaughn Wedeen Creative, Esparza Advertising and Rome & Gold Creative.

(2007) The United Kingdom version of Reader's Digest featured our company Jack Russell in an article regarding the poisoning of dog food.

Don't worry, Lucy hasn't let the exposure go to her head. She'll still come running over, bouncing up and down, until you give her some attention. If you happen to have a tennis ball, a stuffed animal or better yet a real animal to chew on, you might just become her new BFF.

When asked why she chose to do a photo shoot for this article she replied, "It was an article about food, so I knew there would be a lot of free samples at the shoot. The most difficult part about this shoot was to stare into the camera with a bowl of food right under my nose."

Photography was taken by local photographer Chip Simons.

(2007) Several logos designed by Thielen Designs for Sunshine Café (Albuquerque NM) were selected by Studio Ink to be featured in Rockport's 1000 Restaurant, Bar & Café Graphics.

"Restaurants, bars, and cafés are some of the most competitive businesses in the world. Getting the marketing and branding right is essential for survival. Thielen Designs is proud to admit, as a small shop, we're giddy knowing we constantly end up as one of the top creative shops next to the local big boys such as McKee Wallwork Cleveland, 3, Rick Johnson & Company and Esparza Advertising.

(May, 2007) At the District judging of the American Advertising Federation Thielen Designs won an additional 2 Gold and 2 Silver Addy Awards.

The Distict Addys review work from Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and New Mexico. It's wonderful having our work judged side-by-side with companies like Crispin Porter + Bogusky, R&R Partners, and Cramer-Krasselt.

(December, 2006) We exploded this year with our cover design for Hyperactive Music Magazine, Soular "Ornate" & Spoon logo designs, The Art Center Design College Poker Vite and our corporate "$.02 worth" stationary all being accepted to represent the great work coming out of the Southwest region.

One of the world's most respected advertising/design creative competitions, the One Show, recognizes Albuquerque's 3 and Thielen Designs for identity campaigns, along side shops from New York, London, Singapore, Montreal and Cape Town.

Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) May 12, 2006 -- The One Show, one of the most respected international creative award shows, gave merit awards this week to Albuquerque advertising/design firms 3 and Thielen Designs, two of the city's newer creative shops. Winners were selected from nearly 17,000 total entries from over 55 countries, according to the One Show's website, www.oneclub.org.

The One Show is a competition judged by top creative leaders from around the world. Acceptance into the annual publication is considered a top career achievement in advertising and design circles.

3's award-winning design was for the agency's corporate identity package, which humorously indicates "3 things to know" about each employee and the agency itself, including tidbits such as "3 was almost called 12," "3 is the second smallest prime number," and "No one at 3 can really play golf."

Thielen Design's award-winning entry was also for its own corporate identity. It features a retail look that uses UPC-like codes and two-cent price stickers. The concept was based on the fact that the company is in the business of selling its ideas, just like any other business has to sell its own products or services.

"Branding happens at all levels, and a smart identity package allows a company to communicate its personality in a unique way," said Sam Maclay, creative director of 3.

"This recognition shows that high-caliber work is being done in New Mexico, and that big city shops aren't the only places to go for exciting ideas," said Tony Thielen, founder of Thielen Designs.
